Review - London to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Oxford with Evan Evans Tour – Page 1
In this post, I will review the Evan Evans tour and talk about the visited places: Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Oxford. All the photos where taken with a Sony Nex-5 camera.
First make sure to book your ticket ahead of time as London is very crowded city and you will be most likely like other tourists who want to do the same tour as you. The good thing about Evan Evans tour 65, is that it does not include the price of the ticket of Windsor Castle and Stonehenge you are free to choose which one to enter on the day of the tour. You can then make your own combination and pay directly the Evan Evans guide for the chosen tickets.
On the day of the tour, a confortable coach from Evan Evans tour will come to pick you up at your hotel. It will take you to the starting point (The main bus stations of all tours). You will stop there and change the bus they will give you one paper to fill it out with your combination of places you are willing to pay their ticket. you can make the combination that best works for you. Everything were smooth and changing coach was straight forward. Nothing special to mention.
Our Guide tour from Evan Evans was really funny and made the tour very pleasant. He was giving jokes all the way. He was also talking about the history of Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Oxford. The Evan Evans coach was confortable and air-conditioned. After aound 30-45 minutes we arrived to Windsor Castle. If I remember it well, we had around two hours to spend in the Windsor Castle. You will be free to visit whatever you are interested in. You can ask for headphone guide for free. I was more interested in taking photos so I didn’t use them. Before reaching the Castle, we walked a bit in the city and it was a very nice town. View of the Castle from outside was awesome. we got a map when entering the Windsor Castle, there was changing guards in the morning. My advice is if you already watched the changing guards somewhere else like Buckingham Palace then it is better to save your time and visit other places in Windsor Castle. Many places are worth a visit in the Windsor Castle:
- St George’s Chapel
- Round Tower
- Engine Court
- State Apartments
- The Drawings Gallery
- Queen Mary’s Dolls House
As I am spending a lot of time taking photos, I couldn’t manage to visit all the places. But I made it to the State Apartments which was FABULOUS. Unfortuanetely I was not allowed to take photos with my camera. If you are there don’t miss it. You will be able to visit: The King’s Drawing Room – The King’s Bedchamber – The King’s Dining Room – The King’s Dressing Room – The Queen’s Drawing Room – The Queen’s Ballroom – St. George’s Hall – The Lantern Lobby.
Finally, there is something that the guide will probably not tell you. I am sure that you saw this picture of the Windsor Castle from the outside in all the brochure and you want to see the same view in real. Well! it is from outside the castle and you need to follow that roads that goes in front of the castle and then turn left and you will see this amazing green space. It is 5 to 10 minutes walking.
